With fifteen carte blanche opportunities given to artists to take over the rooms of the Musée de la Chasse et de la Nature from 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., an afternoon of discussions on the theme BEING TRANSFORMATIVE with renowned experts and artists hosted by Anne-Lise Carlo, journalist and filmmaker specialising in environmental issues, exploring artistic practices of repair and reconnection with the living world, and culminating in the COAL 2024 Prize and COAL Student Prize ceremonies followed by a convivial and festive moment centred around wild plants—this day was a vibrant laboratory of discovery, reflection, and experimentation, filled with joy and sharing.
Participants were able to explore the “song territories” of green parakeets through a vocal workshop by Nuno da Luz, recipient of the Transformative Territories mention. They attended performances and discovered installations by artists such as Lelia Demoisy, Sacha Rey, and the collectives C.∆.R and MITR, who conceptualise, develop, and implement transformative practices across different territories. Guided by Caroline Le Méhauté, Transformative Territories laureate, some created seed balls with depolluting properties, joining the Green Guerilla ecological and civic movement.
Additionally, attendees participated in four roundtables on the theme of BEING TRANSFORMATIVE, including one titled “Transformative Territories: Creating Spaces of Fertile Political Imagination for Territories”, featuring artists Pascal Ferren, the MITR Collective, Carla Gueye, and philosopher Patrick Degeorges, a member of the Michel Serres Institute (ENS Lyon) and vice-president of IHEPAT.
