As part of the Tavros research-creation project, Nuno da Luz, winner of the COAL 2024 prize for transformative territories, has been invited to take part in the Creative Assembly in Tavros (Greece). During this residency, Nuno da Luz will investigate the soundscapes of the Aitoliko lagoon, a vital habitat for over 250 bird species, many of which are endangered or protected. This research will result in a sound installation, which will be activated on-site through a curated listening walk.

The work of Nuno da Luz, interdisciplinary artist and researcher born in Lisbon in 1984, undulates between the ecologies of noise, attentive listening and book creation. His practice often explores the interplay between sound and environment, examining resonance and reverberation as both echo-logical and eco-logical processes.

In 2015, he took part in the Master’s Programme for Experimentation in Arts and Politics at SciencesPo Paris. In residence at the Cité Internationale des Arts in 2024, he is currently carrying out a doctoral research project at the UCP School of the Arts (Porto), entitled “Echologies of Noise”, and regularly exhibits in Europe.

He co-founded the collective COYOTE, working across media including print, film, and lectures (with Tristan Bera, Elida Høeg, Clémence Seurat, and Ana Vaz). His recent projects include Assisted Resonance, performed in Madrid, Ficarra, Paris, Porto, New York, and Berlin, and solo exhibitions such as RWSNK ECHOS (Kunstraum Botschaft, Berlin, 2017), Sud e magia (Syntax, Lisbon, 2016), Song Cycle (Solar, Vila do Conde, 2015), and Wilderness (Galeria Vera Cortês, Lisbon, 2015).
